The Gryphon's Guild

((I wrote these a little bit ago. Based in Arthuian times, a knight fights a mother gryph and lives, only to see his king once again. Then he is pulled into a battle he cannot and wont stop. There may be more later on, but this is all I have for now. If I write anything else, I'll post it here.))


THE GRYPHON

1
the mountain moves.
bootlaces squirm and shake
as silver
daggers
retract into
hide.
gold orbs shimmer into
being
then gone
the mountain moves
thunder bursts
in a strange
blast
the lightning strikes
up
but i have
moved
too fast
and dodge
a whirlwind of god.
then, metal
clanks
and falls. a
strike
too fast to
...no
i am nothing
nothing
but an ant upon
a cold red stained ground
and she,
the harbinger of death
and life.
behind her lays
one so small
not yet
of the tall woodland trees.
I scatter my
life
to the wind.
but breath
calls it home.
the mountain moves.
the mountain is gone.
gone
in a river
of feathers, fur
eagle shrieks.
i am alone not.
i am there just the same

the house of old
calls us all
eventually.
trudging ahead, knife upon my brow
i
survey the scene
no more hope
till
him.
he that moved mountains.
he that sees all
and yet
nothing. sometimes
owl, others bat
his
arm extended
longer than all nature intended.
oh great king
to live
forever, once now
and then
ever more.
you
are ever my god
are ever my love.
to think what I must do
but that is folly.

cries
cries in the dead of night
screams
screams run the town
dry.
hope is
lost. all have gone.
all but one.
the mountain.
he stands
and faces the great peaks
of the hadreïn
once great
now beautiful and
terrible
there he faces death
and takes it
inviting bird and beast
into open arms
they embrace
on the throne of death
let us go to war
let us not forget
we have not won
we never will win
they are conquerors of life
of death
and we are but mere mortals.
little mountain
destined
to dance with devils
who are you
to live so well?
ah, but is that not life?
may your feathers grow sharp and strong.
may you learn
that we are all the same at the end
may you live forever
in death.

This is good. Really good. And quite timely, I might say, considering the season and things going on in the world.
