I think DOD was a typo for DoS, a type of attack on a server.

I doubt he could actually pull it off, though.

Threats are threats, that's my main concern. I don't know the contents of all the messages, no, but threats were made and a campain of harassment was conducted... both, violations of law. Besides, if the grounds for legal action exist, in this case, it would certainly open Tra'al's eyes.

Could be a typo, but it just might not be...

Zethzeth, I don't think you could have handled your situation any better. After all, it worked, didn't it?

Fareme, reverse engineering works on all forms of tech... I did my little project by identifying all the components and tracing their connections and interrelationships... took me weeks to deconstruct the device, so I could find just where I needed to modify the circuitry, to make it do what I wanted it to. If DoD wasn't a typo for DoS (and even if it was)... nope, can't see the guy finding his way out of the bag. :P

Brim- Fortunately, most of your friends who he tried to harass are about as tolerant of harassing as they are of being slapped in the face with a fish.

And they have words, and they know how to use them.

I thought you were just being noble and the better person by trying to be nice to him, while the rest of us were running around picking on him. :P

Seriously, though, what a little brat. Hopefully he'll learn something by it, but I doubt it. Clearly, he already knows everything.

I would like to make the humble observation that this topic can be seen whether you're logged in or not, so if Tra'al is seeking attention, he's certainly getting it in this topic. He knows his banning is causing a big discussion, and is probably loving every minute of it.

Hey Indi, :P there's nothing thereeeee~Well, an account, but nothing there otherwise. And somewhat old.
Also, again, Roose, this really isn't worth reporting. Now if he actually ATTEMPTED something, yes. Report the attempt.

Twix: Yes there is. There's a name "lee ian juriet" His name is lee juriet and the person who is supposedly his brother is ian juriet. How many parents give a child a middle name that is the other's first name? (or vice versa)
I've also looked at his comments on elfwood and they are very much his style. Plus the interests are "halo 3", which was also listed as his favorite hobby elsewhere on the net.
It's enough for me to conclude that the "brother" thing is a guise that allows him to call us bitches and everything without incriminating himself as badly as he would if it were "him" sending the lot.

I agree with Sovay, I highly doubt he has a brother that was sending us emails. It was more than likely him the whole time. I mean, geeze, even when I was a teenager getting picked on on the internet, I /certainly/ never asked my BROTHER to get in on it, and email the people picking on me.

As for this topic being publicly viewable - good! I think it's better than Tra'al can see what we are saying and how we feel about his actions, so that he knows it was un-acceptable and we will not tolerate that sort of behavior. As I said, I hope he learns a lesson from it. He was welcomed here when he first posted, but he failed to follow the rules or compose himself in a polite manner. So it's not as if he wasn't given a chance or that we're just being 'big meanies'. XP

*breaks self-imposed thread-posting ban* :P

Stormphyre... yes, not worth reporting, but I still can't help thinking it would open Tra'al's eyes, if a few police officers turned up on his doorstep, or if he received some "official" mail. It might just save him from a future life of crime (*drama, I know, but... *)....

It's just a shame things like this happen over the net, where you can't just reach out, grab the kid by the shirt-collar, and give him a good shaking....

IP bans can easily be avoided. I won't be surprised if he comes back under a completely new mask.

You will not be able to completely ban someone because from past experiences from banning members from my WoW servers i've been developing on, I can tell you right here and now IP's can easily be bypassed. All they have to do if they have a dynamic IP is just reset their router and get a force IP change.

In otherwords, no, he might be able to come back regardless of what you do... Either pray he doesnt have a dynamic IP or hire someone to find out his ISP provider and contact the ISP provider ASAP.

Just my suggestions.

Pretty sure this thread is long dead. He hasn't come back, to the best of our knowledge. It was brought up several times by many others, myself included, that getting a new IP is easy, and there's nothing we can do about it. My guess is if he comes back and we know it, he'll just keep getting banned.

At any rate, since he can see this, maybe not giving directions on how to get around the ban would be a GREAT plan.

there are also proxies that he could use to bypass his IP address if he is on a static IP, which lets him bounce his signal from other servers from around the world, meaning his signal could be coming into the guild from vietnam or somewhere in china, or anywhere in the world, and they are reletively easy to obtain.
